Development Intern Position (8 hours/week)

Intern Job Description: This volunteer will be working closely with the Development Director. The intern will submit press releases, do outreach to faith communities, help organize special events, and other development activities as time and interest permit.

This internship is perfect for someone interested in working in Public Relations, Communication, or Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Submit monthly press releases and post pictures to the mytown.com Camera website
  • Do outreach to faith communities through Intercambio volunteers who attend those faith communities
  • Help organize Open Houses, La Fiesta, and other special events
  • Assist with mailings to donors and prospects

Other Possible Activities:

  • Work with a webmaster to update the website
  • Help with corporate sponsorship for La Fiesta
  • Assist with grant management

Requirements:

  • Must have own transportation
  • Available during the day (between the hours of 9 AM–4 PM)
  • Computer experience


Home–Assessment Intern Position (10–15 hours/week)

Intern Job Description: This volunteer position will be working closely with the Program Coordinator with the home–classes. Before starting home–classes, students must be pre–assessed with an interview and an English test. After home–classes have been in session for six months, the students must be post–assessed to record progress.

Responsibilities:

  • Calling home–students to set up home assessments
  • Going to the student’s homes in Longmont, Lafayette and Boulder
  • Performing the whole assessment in Spanish
  • Filling out applications, forms and questionnaires with students
  • Entering information from assessments into the database
  • Translating quotes and information from students for Grants
  • Filing information into a folder
  • Determining which students need to be post–assessed
  • Answering messages and phone calls from students
  • Updating information in the computer
  • Contributing to constant improvement of the program
  • Promoting Intercambio to students and volunteers
  • Helping with school classes as needed

Requirements:

  • Must have own transportation (Reimbursed for mileage)
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Flexible schedule
  • Computer experience
  • Reside in Lafayette, Boulder or Longmont


School–Assessment Intern Position

Intern Job Description: This volunteer position will be working closely with the Program Coordinator in organizing the school classes.

Responsibilities:

  • Helping with orientations at the beginning of the semester
  • Teaching a school class
  • Representing Intercambio as the main contact at the school
  • Assisting teachers with needs or questions
  • Directing students to classes
  • Answering students’ questions
  • Distributing books and notebooks to students
  • Collecting course fees
  • Dispensing materials to teachers for the Academic Coordinator
  • Performing school monitoring responsibilities
  • Opening and closing facilities (during summer only in Boulder and Lafayette)
  • Printing attendance sheets at the beginning of every week.
  • Collecting attendance sheets at the end of the week
  • Recording the attendance into the Database every week

Requirements:

  • Must have own transportation (Reimbursed for mileage)
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Flexible schedule
  • Computer experience
  • Reside in Lafayette, Boulder or Longmont
